The year is almost over and you probably have a plan for the future. The key to success is to stick to your goals. A good way to stay focused is to say positive affirmations out loud. This will help you get rid of negative thoughts and be more present.

What Exactly Is A Mantra?

A mantra is any word(s), sound(s) or collection of words or sounds that helps you focus, concentrate or feel more confident.

Many people use the word mantra interchangeably with affirmations.

Not all mantras are affirmations, but all affirmations are a form of mantra.

While both affirmations and mantras are designed to help individuals focus, the main difference between the two is that mantras are often made up of sounds or phrases, while affirmations are usually positive phrases.

The use of mantras involves the repetition of sounds to reach the subconscious mind.

The calming sounds of the phrases, even if we don’t fully understand them, can soothe the mind.

Translating a mantra gives you an affirmation in the target language, with the added benefit of confidence-building over time through repetition.

Best Mantras From People Who Shared Success Stories

Rich Roll used to be an alcoholic but has now become a vegan all-star athlete and Ironman.

“My Mantra is: Mood Follows Action. What that means is we have this human tendency to try to make a change, and then we wait to do the hard, uncomfortable thing. We wait until we feel like doing it. But that day never comes. But to me, Mood Follows Action means the action precedes the mood. If you wait to take the action when you feel like it you may never do it. That helps me take the first step, like jumping into the cold water when I may not feel like it, or not hitting snooze on the alarm. And that approach has helped me in many contexts. It has helped me since I first heard it back in AA many years ago. Does the mood follow? Well, yes. You never do the thing and think, “I wish I hadn’t done that.”

Evon Dennis was addicted to processed food, but was able to overcome this addiction and lose 140 lbs by following a vegan diet.

“Everything is happening for my benefit. I love that perspective because I’ve been through a lot already, and if I’ve made it this far, I can keep going. I can keep striving for myself, for my daughters, because that’s what mothers do.”

Berlin struggled with an eating disorder and turned to vegan baking as part of her recovery process.

Struggling with depression can feel like you’re being buried under a wave of negative emotions, but it’s important to remember that you can always rise above it. I find that Maya Angelou’s quote, “Still, I Rise” is a great reminder of this. Depression can make it hard to see past the negative, but if you can justride out the wave of emotions, you’ll come out the other side.

Athena Simpson had a miscarriage and healed herself by eating a plant-based diet.

“You can have your best life, or you can have alcohol. That one just blew my mind. The other one I love that I mentioned earlier is if you don’t have control over yourself and your time, someone or something else will.”

Eric Sanchez has dealt with alopecia, anxiety, depression, and pain by eating a raw vegan diet.

Few people venture into uncharted territory, so few get to see what lies beyond the horizon. I find comfort in this whenever I’m going through tough times – knowing that the pain of staying the same will eventually hurt more than the struggle to change.

Ashley Chong was able to turn her prediabetes around by switching to a vegan diet- and she also lost 127 pounds in the process.

“Keep going and keep trying. If you fail, just keep going. If you’re doing this for your health, just keep going. You will reap the benefits of it.”

“I am all about loving your food and loving your life. I understand food is fuel but I am a foodie first. You don’t have to eat what you don’t like to be healthy. By incorporating healthy foods into your life, you are going to love your life more.”

Aidy Rogers is an inspiration to many people. She overcame anxiety and depression and lost 100 pounds on a vegan diet. Aidy is a strong woman who has proven that anything is possible if you set your mind to it.

“I really like the perspective that time is not real, from a metaphysical perspective. It’s how I healed a lot of my past self-shame and guilt and regret. If I loved myself five minutes ago, shouldn’t that apply to myself five years ago, ten years ago, when I was still beating myself up after eating family-sized bags of Cheetos? It really helped me to look at my past self as someone who was doing her best and needed to go through those experiences to feel what I feel now. I can’t be mad at myself for eating all those family-sized bags of Cheetos and crying in a closet, I have to hold her and love her. That’s me! If I want to feel better now, I can’t hold on to the negative feelings towards the past version of myself, that’s me right now. It really helped me to view it like that, that it’s all me, and the future version of myself, I can be here in two seconds. That’s it, then I’m there. You don’t have to wait in order to feel good. You don’t have to wait in order to be happy.”

Doug Schmidt: Saved his life by switching to a vegan diet after having a heart attack at 49.

“It’s that I walk a little bit more softly on the earth. Whether that’s in my interactions with people or interactions with animals, I know that eating this way helps everything and everyone. It helps the environment, it helps the animals, and I know I’m not hurting anyone. That next step for me is to be gentle, generous, and kind, and giving that to the humans I interact with. So it is to walk softly on the earth, or gently. That sort of encompasses everything. My wife and I talk every once in a while, and we ask each other: Would you ever go back to eating certain things? For instance, I loved eggs. I loved meat, but when you think about where these things came from, and those abuses that those animals go through, you can’t let go of that idea. For me, that mantra is to walk softly on the earth.”

Before going vegan, Nour Danno suffered from an autoimmune disease. However, once she switched to a vegan diet, her health improved drastically.

“Be kind to every kind, even if it’s a rat or a cow. Be kind to every living being, that includes trees, anything in nature. It’s also important to be humble.”

It is important to live in the present and focus on the future, while letting go of the past. There are things you can change that will improve your life.

If you don’t forgive yourself for past mistakes, you’re only hurting yourself. The same goes if you’re still angry about things others have done to you in the past.

A good example of focusing on the “highest good” is after a breakup with someone you love. You could sit around angry and hurt about a failed relationship or you could go out and try to find someone new (and better).

Everybody wants to be loved. Even people who have a lot of love in their lives still want more of it. That’s just what humans are like.
