Gatsby Fashion Is Outa Sight!

Retro fashion always has a certain amount of popularity, as we mentioned in a recent post about how to amp up your personal style.

Now, with the arrival of the blockbuster remake of “The Great Gatsby,” clothes based on a 1920’s look are flooding the shelves.

From the looks of things, this fashion trend may be around for awhile, since they are leaving the shelves almost as soon as they arrive!

And it isn’t just for women, ladies. How would you feel about your man picking you up in a pink leisure suite with a red bowtie? Brooks Brothers has made this all possible!

So if you are interested in joining the bandwagon and adopting the look of this era, you could start out with just a head band that has been embellished with some really big, gaudy fake jewels! (You could even make something yourself)

Pearls were very popular back then, and you can even wear a simple pearl necklace or hair clip to add just a flavor of 1920’s.

But if you really are taken by the look, you don’t have to stop at accessories. You could go for sequined dresses and lace or a flapper dress or one with a drop-waist.

I’ve actually loved the flapper dresses ever since the 6th grade when I choreographed a Charleston routine for our class “Farewell Party!”

Have you been to see The Great Gatsby? Have some of these retro items started making their way into your wardrobe yet?

I wish I could pull off the Sue Wong Scoop-Neck Embroidered Fringe Cocktail dress that I found at Neiman Marcus…. Maybe just a bit of jewelry will do after all!
