If you’re not happy with your life, it may be time for a change. This could mean anything from making a change in your daily routine to moving to a new location. Don’t be afraid to make a change, even if it seems drastic. Sometimes, major life changes are necessary to find happiness.
I strongly believe that we are not inherently flawed, that we have the potential to be great. Yes, life circumstances such as trauma, stress, and dysfunctional relationships can shape us, but those who have been through these tough experiences for a long time become used to them and start to lower their expectations. They also become less resilient when faced with new challenges.
Although you may not realize it, you are stronger and more capable than you give yourself credit for. If you’re not sure whether your apathy is due to your current life situation or something else, here are some signs that you need a major life change immediately.
You’re Feeling Comfortable, Yet Restless
If you’re finding that you’re stuck in the same routines every day, it might be time to make some changes. It’s good to have some healthy routines, but too much monotony can kill creativity. If you’re not growing, you’re not in your comfort zone. And if you’re not in your comfort zone, you’re not likely to be very comfortable. If you’re not excited about your life and you have low energy, it might be time to make a change. When was the last time you did something new?
This happens to all of us at some point or another. You can become sick of your surroundings, of the same thing happening over and over, and of the people you see all the time. It’s okay, and it’s a natural part of life. You should try to spend less time with people who drain your energy and more time with people who make you feel good.
A large change in any one area of your life has the potential to create more changes in other areas, both professionally and personally. Change makes you more flexible, exposes you to new experiences and new people, and opens up the doors to more opportunities. The potential for change is addicting.
You don’t have to make a huge change to your life to improve it. Sometimes small changes, like trying new things, can make a big difference. Consider what internal changes you need to make so that you can keep moving forward.
Other Reasons for Making Changes
You Feel Numb
If you aren’t feeling excited about anything anymore and can’t remember the last time you laughed out loud, it might be because you aren’t exercising your senses. According to MindBodyGreen, losing passion and motivation can make you feel numb. To help yourself, try to do things you love more often.
You’ve Stopped Working On Yourself
You are the most important thing in your life and it is imperative that you take care of yourself first so that you can have a fulfilling life.
- Go to a library,
- Search the internet,
- Embrace ‘you time,’
- Expand your world, through things like hobbies or participating in new activities,
- Find out more about your potential!
Your Environment Has Become Toxic
You might want to make some changes if you find that you’re constantly surrounded by toxic people who criticize you or your work, or if you’re in an environment filled with negativity. It’s tough to stay positive when your surroundings are so unhappy.
It could be that your friends are not raising you up, but rather enjoying hearing about your down moments, expecting you to hear theirs incessantly. They may be putting you down in small ways that just don’t feel right, with back-handed compliments, cutting you off when you’re talking, or never showing up for time together without any remorse or treating you like an afterthought. Either way, they drain your energy, resources and patience.
You’re Not Happy In Your Romantic Relationship
Although it can be difficult, it may be a good idea to break up with your romantic partner if they are toxic or you are heading in different directions. If your partner makes you feel bad about yourself or uses you as a way to vent their emotions, it may be time to end the relationship.
You’re Merely Surviving
Doing the same things over and over can be harmful to your creativity and drive. If you’ve been feeling restless, it might be your gut telling you that you need a change.
You Want To Feel a Greater Sense of Purpose
If you’re not excited to wake up in the morning, if you’d rather scroll through social media than do anything else, these might be signs that you need to rethink your life purpose.
If we lose our job or have to close our business, our physical and/or emotional energy might be low. Grief can take up a lot of energy. So it’s important to be kind to ourselves. I’ve found that one great way to drive meaning and purpose in my life is to help others. That’s why I dedicate so much of my time to helping entrepreneurs achieve their dreams. If you’re struggling, reach out and ask for help. Asking for help can help you and the person who has the opportunity to help you. Your request can give them purpose!
Rebuild your sense of purpose by doing something different for one hour each day. This could be something as simple as volunteering for a cause you care about, being kind to someone else, or learning a new skill. Just one hour of doing something new each day can make you feel happier and more fulfilled.
You’ve Acquired A Compulsive Behavior
If you’re struggling with an addiction, it may be because you’re not happy with your life. Try to find a better way to cope with your problem instead of using something else as a crutch. Separate your vices and figure out what’s really causing you to be unhappy. Once you identify the root of the problem, you can begin to work on fixing it and living the life you want to live.
You’re Constantly Dreaming About The Past
While it’s always nice to reminisce about things, you don’t want to be solely focusing on the past because you’re tired of your life in the present. The present often feels less pleasant than the past, because we’re still waiting to find out how the various education and business ventures that are part of our life now are going to work out.
Big Life Changes
Just as things come into your life, they also leave it. A job, a relationship, or even a living situation can come to an end. It’s natural for these things to end, and you shouldn’t be afraid of it.
If you have recently ended a long-term relationship or lost your job, this may be a sign that a new chapter in your life is beginning. These changes can be positive opportunities to do something new that makes you feel excited about the future.
I recently left my job as CEO of a marketing company to pursue other interests. This is not the first time a career change has caused me to move- when I was laid off from my first job in my early twenties, I moved to Hawaii to start fresh. I actually started my first company from my kitchen table! After that, I moved to San Diego, where I sold my company- not just once, but twice. I also had twins while living there. Moving around has definitely changed my life!
It might be time for you to start a new chapter in your life. The next one could be even better than the last.
You’re Feeling Depressed
Depression is a sign that something in your life needs to change. This may include taking better care of yourself, setting boundaries with people or situations that are not healthy for you, or changing your life circumstances. Depression is your body and brain’s way of telling you that it is time for change.
Final Thoughts About Making Changes
We can forget that we have the power to make choices that control our lives and destinies. Make a decision to change your life for the better by doing something that will remind you that you are in control. This could be something like changing careers, breaking up with a significant other if the relationship is toxic, or starting a new business. Whatever it takes to make a positive change in your life, do it!
I’m looking forward to getting to know myself and my family even better as we go through this big change together. Life is short and there’s a lot to see out there – it’s time for us to broaden our horizons and explore what’s out there.
This is a big change for me, moving to Miami, but it’s something I’m really excited about. I love adventure, and I think that making changes in your life, no matter how big or small, is the key to making your life better. Change helps you learn and grow, and it keeps you feeling energetic and alive. Change is also beautiful. Butterflies wouldn’t exist if there was no such thing as change.
No matter what is holding you back, you can change any aspect of your life that you want. What change would you like to make, big or small? Don’t let fear stop you from doing it!
