Meditation is reported to help you with stress, worry, addiction, focus, and health – and that is the reason that Andy Puddicombe and the folks at Headspace have decided to create a mission to get as many people as possible to take 10 minutes daily to meditate.
Everyone I know could use an easy way to reduce stress and worry! But many are afraid they can’t meditate, or they have some misunderstandings of what it is.
What Headspace offers is a free program called Take 10. You can access it on your computer and/or download an app to your iphone or android phone.
Take 10 is a ten day introduction to meditation, where you gradually learn more about meditation and actually perform a 10 minute meditation for 10 days. Research has shown that it only takes a few days for this practice to start making improvements in your physical and mental health!
Once you create an free account with Headspace, a page is created for you. There is a deliberate unfolding of information presented to you daily, which they believe will help you to progress better.
Each day you get your 10 minute meditation and a pre-meditation video, but along with that there are 3 sections that you are encouraged to explore as well.
1. Headspace Active helps you to integrate the feeling of calm and clarity that you get while meditating out into your everyday life.
2. Headspace Motivate is designed to help you to be enthusastic about finding time to do your meditation regularly, making it easier to do.
3. Headspace Extra gives you several short annimations that illustrate various points about meditation in a delightful way.
Once you complete your free introduction, you have an opportunity to continue on with a subscription plan for as little as $5.74 per month.
Check it out and get started by going to http://www.getsomeheadspace.com/.
Oh – and you will also have an opportunity to set a daily reminder that can be emailed to you (you can control turning it off and on).
