Is Getting Banged Really A Big Deal?
Well, for a first timer like myself, it was.
Here’s my story. A couple weeks ago when I got banged, obviously it was my first time, so I was really nervous. I did research and found pictures of the bang I wanted and also a picture of what I didn’t want. That way, when it came time, I was prepared with examples. To be honest, it didn’t go exactly how I planned, because, first of all, it was with a guy and second I was in an area of town I wasn’t familiar with.
Wait! Let’s back up. Before I start sounding like I’m sharing my love life, let me clarify. I’m referring to hair…getting bangs, with scissors in a salon. That’s what you were thinking too, right? OK, now that that’s clear….
Anyways, back to getting banged…I mean bangs. This could potentially be a traumatic situation for newbies, like myself. You can always imagine what you will look like, but until they make their final cut and style, you still aren’t quite sure. I looked completely different in my mind than I did in real life, kind of like I look much heavier in my head than I probably appear in real life. Don’t we all think that at one time or another?
I wasn’t impressed right away and after I left I thought to myself, “what have I done?!” I went straight home, put my hair in a top knot bun like I always wear, but left my bangs down and it hit me! This is the look I had in my mind! Not, the straight bangs with long hair in curls look, think Miss Piggy. After I realized that the bun and bangs do was the style of my dream, I became much happier. I then later realized that if I blow dry my bangs back all 80’s style and pin them in a pouf I can still wear my hair down. Honestly though, bangs aren’t for everyone, sometimes you need change and finding it is half the battle.
So the moral of this story is, sometimes you have to take the leap of faith and sometimes you win, sometimes you’ll lose, but it doesn’t mean you failed, you’ve simply tried something new.
