How are your math skills? Most people wish they were better at math (or they wish they never had to take math in school).
A new study presents a way that people could finally increase their math skills without really trying.
OK, well, not trying as hard…
Brain stimulation during training sessions seems to increase the learning by two to five times as much as those that got “fake” stimulation, and they actually kept up to 40% of that increase 6 months later.
So what kind of brain stimulation are we talking about here? Something called TRNS (Transcranial random noise stimulation), which is a week electrical current that fluctuates in a random fashion, delivered by electordes placed on the skull. Most people don’t even feel a tingling on their scalp with it.
This may be a glimpse into all kinds of possibilities for learning down the road. I can’t help but see visions of Matrix, with the people plugged into the computer and learning ju-jitsu in a couple of minutes…
But don’t try this at home – there is some precision needed at this time to get the right results.
But still, 20 years from now people may be placing their “Cognitive Cap” orders on Amazon, accompanied by the subject matter audio of their choice!
Now THAT would be cool!
